one day...
I found this on Oprah's FB page today. I know everything needs its own time. I'd just wished I'd had the patience to be patient...

the important things
"Everything changed the day he figured out there was exactly enough time for the important things in his life."

it's all about your heart
"Women are constantly being persuaded to want something unachievable, to look younger or thinner and above all to fit in because being different is too painful and embarrassing. I have accepted myself in a world that does not accept me, because I have learned - and more than any of the lessons of my accident, this is the one I wish I could teach everybody -
- that our hearts matter most. Your heart matter most, so be gentler and more patient with yourself, and their hearts matter most, too, so be kinder and more compassionate to others. It's a beautiful heart, not a perfect body, that leads to a beautiful life."
~ Stephanie Nielson
Today on my way home from work I finished a book called Heaven is Here by Stephanie Nielson. This book taught me so much about the little things in our lives that are overlooked frequently or taken for granted. The words above said by Stephanie struck me the most, it's such a powerful reminder to all of us to appreciate what we have.

You are the reason
the sun came up today.
Believe it.

You maybe noticed the little notes on the bottom of the right side column. I put a link to this website - tut.com and I'm getting the little notes every day. I just love them and they always make me smile. Like the one above.

master class
Yesterday while Ivo went swimming I was watching Oprah's Master class. I took a few notes during the show and thought I will share them with you as well. I just love the wisdom of these thoughts.
Everybody has a story. Everybody.
And there is something to be learned from every experience. No matter what it is.
Every story has a lesson.
We all have the ability to put forth the best of ourselves.
If you want respect, you give respect.
Respect is essential.
Honor is worth sacrifice.
Every step is a lesson.
We are not meant to be perfect.
Instinct guides us.
Do it today.
Follow your muse. Always.
Use your life as a class.
Learn from every experience.

the last lecture
Today I've started reading The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. I heard about Randy on Oprah's Lifeclass for the first time. She was talking about this book and used some quotes from the book in her class about dreaming big. I'm still at the beginning of this book but it's made me think about a lot of things already.
I really liked his story about his football coach from his childhood, he said in the book: " When you're screwing up and nobody says anything to you anymore, that means they've given up on you." When you see yourself doing something badly and nobody's bothering to tell you anymore, that's a bad place to be. You may not want to hear it, but your critics are often the ones telling you they still love you and care about you, and want to make you better.
This is so true! We use this with our children. We support them in everything but we want and try to make sure they get it right the next time and learn from their own mistakes.
I will be definitely ordering this book for myself, right now I have it just borrowed from the library. You can also watch his "Last Lecture" online.

the power of words
I was watching Oprah's Lifeclass yesterday and this quote's really touched me. It's so true.
When we're truly present, we recognize the "ordinary" moments are life's greatest gifts. ~Oprah
Let's live more in the moment and enjoy the little things to the fullest. I think I'm getting closer to choosing my one little word now.
I love the power of words in this necklace, it's definitely on my wish list. This necklace is a part of Tracey Clark's collaboration with Katherine Center and bel kai designs. You can read so many inspiring and powerful posts from this project on Tracey's blog.

go forth
Your life is your life
Don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission
Be on the watch
There are ways out
There is light somewhere
It may not be much light ,
but it beats the darkness
but it beats the darkness
Be on the watch
The Gods will offer you chances
Know them,
Take them
You can’t beat death
But you can beat death in life
sometimes
sometimes
And the more often you learn to do it,
The more light there will be
Your life is your life
Know it while you have it
You are marvelous
The Gods wait to delight
in you
I saw this commercial by Levi's on Alice's blog yesterday. What an amazing statement.

...
Don't sit still
“I think if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what’s next.”
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
